July Soundings

What a great July 4th holiday weekend!!! We could not have asked for better weather. The Club was full and there were plenty of activities for everyone to participate in. My thanks to all the chairpersons and those who assisted in providing the membership a great time. In some of my previous remarks, I have urged you to participate and become involved with your Club. This past holiday weekend was definitely a great example of that. Of all the activities scheduled, four were chaired by members who joined last year. Additionally, participation by the membership was outstanding! On the morning of July 4th the Club held a Town Hall meeting, updating the specifics of the purchase of Club Island. A letter will be mailed to the entire membership reviewing this information. In this letter, a password will also be given. This password will entitle you to go to our website www.clubisland.org and link to a downloadable file which is the presentation given by Past Commodore Bill Whitley Sr. at the meeting. This password is necessary to open this file. My thanks to P/C Bill Whitley Sr. for a great presentation and his assistance in preparing the letter for the membership. Just a final note to parents. This past holiday weekend, a child, without a life jacket, fell into the South Harbor. Fortunately, a member saw the child and pulled him to safety. Parents, Please be sure your CHILDREN WEAR LIFE JACKETS when visiting the island.
